Tips for Buyers

Note:-eBay UK use the term "gauge" not "scale" for their model railway listings
............................................
British O scale..................1:43.5
USA  O scale .................1:48
European O scale.............1:45
General O scale  1:48......Gauge:1.25"(31.8mm)
Marklin, the German toy manufacturer who created O scale about 1900
used the 1/48th proportion as it was the scale
they already used for making dolls houses.
In O scale 1/4 inch equals 1 foot.
O scale was originally called Zero Scale, because it
was a step down in size from 1 scale.
